Contemporary Art

Paintings, works on paper, mixed media, and jewelry

On view September 4th through October 15th, 2021

This exhibition will show work by local artist and Sharon Historical Society board member Richard Roney-Dougal, from the beginning of his career as an art student at the Byam Shaw School in London, through his time in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia, New Mexico, Kentucky, and now Sharon. Richard’s practice ranges from the design and fabrication of unique and limited-edition jewelry, to print making, painting, and mixed media works that combine them. While his work has often evolved to reflect the environment and culture of his home location, certain themes run throughout – an interest in mysticism, ancient cultures, and science, and a focus on the expressive possibilities of line and text.
