Abbey Nova Named Executive Director

The Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the appointment of Abbey Nova as the new Executive Director of the Sharon Historical Society and Museum (SHSM). Abbey has served as our Interim Executive Director since May, thoughtfully steering the society through our busiest summer season to date, which included a new photography exhibition and the annual cake sale. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Abbey!  She is a historian, writer, and nonprofit administrator specializing in the history of decorative arts and design. Her career has included roles at some of New York’s most prestigious institutions, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Park Avenue Armory and The Frick Collection.

Her curatorial research has been published in respected publications such as The Magazine Antiques and The Journal of the Smithsonian, as well as in leading online design publications.

Prior to her career in decorative arts and design, Abbey had a successful career in corporate communications and nonprofit management. She served as an executive at the global public relations firm Fleishman-Hillard, worked as a corporate communications consultant at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, and was the administrative director of The Vincent Club, a historic Boston philanthropic organization dedicated to supporting women’s health and well-being at Massachusetts General Hospital. Abbey holds a Master of Arts in the History of Decorative Arts and Design from Cooper-Hewitt and Parsons The New School, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Dartmouth College.

A resident of Sharon, Connecticut, she lives with her husband and two sons in a historic home that dates back to the 1700s.
